Kotodama & Kodama (Japanese: コトダマ & コダマ) are the fifteenth boss in the game. These two entities are powerful monster denizens of the Karakuri Mansion. They don't seem to overly care for Princess Kaguya as once they learn of Shiren, they plot to kill him, believing that doing so will make them the new masters of the Karakuri Mansion or at least leave them in the good graces of their real lord. They are direct underlings or supporters of the crane god. The monsters set up a traditional festival location in the Tower Precinct to celebrate the imminent return of the crane god, where these two end up fighting Shiren and his companions.
Both Kotodama and Kodama only have one basic attack when they are separated from each other. So the strategy here is as simple as this boss. This is the first boss fight where you have access to all 3 playable characters in the game at the same time. 3 Characters can push out a lot of damage really fast. Pick one of the bosses that you dislike more and have all three of your characters go after them first. The usual strategies apply here. Beneficial Herbs like Hercules Herb, Haste Herb, Dragon Herb, etc, and healing Items are your go to, and all of your status effect moves do not work on the boss, so don't bother trying. After a few turns time, they may combine together into Kotodamakodama. When this occurs, your strategy should remain the same, just keep hitting it until eventually they split apart again. It is really that simple of a boss fight.
The combined form of them has two attacks. The basic attack Clap hits the 3 spaces in front of the boss, so you may want to spread your characters out so only one gets hit by that at a time. The other attack this boss can use is Absorb. It doesn't do any damage, but drains your fullness to 0 and then heals the boss for 100 HP. This move is only a minor nuisance. You should have more than enough hp to straight up ignore the fact that you are starving (which only does one damage to you per turn in case you are unaware.) So just continue to hit the boss and using any healing items if necessary. I wouldn't waste time eating a Riceballs item but you can of course go ahead and do that if you want fix your starvation. The boss will eventually split into two again. At this point, just finish by focusing down the same individual you were initially. If you didn't kill them before they combined then you probably will now. After one is down, the second one can't combine anymore.
