The Karakuri Rickshaw (Japanese: からくり火車) is the tenth boss fight in the game. This entity guards the exit of the Forest of Fire in the underground. The Karakuri Rickshaw resembles the Oboroguruma, a type of yokai based on old Japanese Oxen Carts. It doesn't have much of a personality to it as it speaks rather directly and without any determinable mannerisms, but it does have a loose tongue. It only wants Shiren and Asuka to leave the mansion. Saying that their goal of meeting the Princess Kaguya and stopping the mansion's threat to the outside world is of no concern to all of the monsters. It also mentions that while Princess Kaguya is the master of Karakuri mansion, that the Monsters are not her slaves, and she actually holds no sway over any of them. They only answer to the Crane God. Upon its defeat, the Rickshaw questions Shiren's resolve in fulfilling his personal goal even at the cost of the entire mansion world and all of the lives that live within Hourai Mountain.

Strategy

The Karakuri Rickshaw is very clearly on fire, and it does contain the special abilities that all monsters that are on fire have. All thrown items will be burned up as well as any items that it passes over. So your Projectiles will not work here, as well as the usual boss attribute immunity to all of your status inflicting items and staff bolts. So once again, you will want to make sure you have decent equipment on your pair of characters for the area. If you have any Haste Herb or Hercules Herb, those are about the only things that will help you with this boss fight outside of healing items. All you really want to do is smack the Rickshaw into submission as fast as you can as your options in how to handle it are severely limited outside of basic attacks.

As for attacks, the Rickshaw actually has quite a few. Along with its basic uppercut attack, it can swipe at you with its giant arm. This hits the area around the boss, and causes knock back on your characters. You can stop the knockback effect with a heavy shield or the seal of one but it is not necessary to have this minor perk. The next attack the boss will sometimes perform is a giant stomp which is a room-wide attack that deals a large amount of damage, so make sure you keep your health up to survive this attack. The last thing the rickshaw can do is spew out flames, which does a set 20 damage. This can be reduced if you have any sort of fire-resistant item such as a Dragonward but again, this is not a necessary concern for you to worry about if you don't have one. This fire breath attack also rusts your equipped gear, so it can be annoying. A Rustless Armband will prevent that side effect though.
