Titles, Releases and Versions

The first Shiren game was released for the Super Famicom on December 1, 1995. It was titled 不思議のダンジョン2 風来のシレン, which translates to Mystery Dungeon 2: Shiren the Wanderer. While this was the first game in the Shiren series, it was the second "Mystery Dungeon" game, hence the number 2 in the original title. In 2006, after being ported to the Nintendo DS it was released under the title: 不思議のダンジョン 風来のシレン DS in 2008, the game was later translated into English and released for the Nintendo DS under the title Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer, dropping DS from the name since it was never officially released in English for the Super Famicom. Fans did create a high quality patch for the original, which this wiki supports. English-speaking fans of the game almost universally refer to this game by the short name Shiren 1. See the Shiren the Wanderer series page for more information on official and unofficial names.
