Meta:Nintendo Classics

Nintendo Classics, formerly the Nintendo Switch Online classic game libraries, is a rental platform for the digital distribution of games previously published on older hardware to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 through official emulation. A collection of titles from hardware are officially bought and downloaded from the Nintendo Switch Online subscription, and installed to the console's internal memory or, following an eventual system update, an external SD card, although some internal memory still needed to be free in order to play the game, if it was installed externally. Although the platform is operated by Nintendo, it also featured games from hardware made by other companies.

Currently there are two types of subscriptions with the following hardware to rent:

• Nintendo Switch Online: NES/Famicom, Super Nintendo/Super Famicom, Game Boy and Game Boy Color
• Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack:
  • Any Nintendo Switch: Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis/Sega Mega Drive, Game Boy Advance
  • Exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2: Nintendo GameCube
