The Nintendo Classics (Japanese: ???), formerly the Nintendo Switch Online classic game libraries, is a rental platform for the digital distribution of games previously published on older hardware to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 through official emulation. Titles are officially bought and downloaded from the Nintendo Switch Online subscription, and installed to the console's internal memory or, following an eventual system update, an external SD card, although some internal memory still needed to be free in order to play the game, if it was installed externally. Although the platform is operated by Nintendo, it also featured games from hardware made by other companies.
