Shiren 1 DS:Adventure While Awaiting Rescue
Once you beat the main quest by completing Table Mountain, you unlock the ability to make limited ventures while you're waiting for a rescue.
This option is accessed by dying, using a Rescue Request, then selecting "Awaiting Rescue" on the Main Menu. After beating Table Mountain, "Adventure while awaiting rescue" appears between the options to "Give up waiting to be rescued" and go "Back".
When selecting AWAR, you start inside the Canyon Hamlet Warehouse.
Inventory Management - This gives you an opportunity to rearrange your warehouse while on an adventure, leading to some possibilities for abuse of Storehouse Jars. - This is a safe chance to test out writing on Blank Scrolls. Store a Blank Scroll, die, and AWAR into your Warehouse. Try writing something on the Scroll, and if the result is unusable, stay in the Warehouse and turn the game off to revert everything to its former state. - Note that if you return to the Main Menu, any items Shiren is carrying will be lost.
Adventuring - You may set out on limited adventures into the various dungeons of the game which you have accessed so far. - You cannot request Rescues, or suspend play by Quitting while using AWAR. - The same limitations for pre-buffing apply as usual. - Your adventure begins on the first floor of that specific dungeon. - You encounter no NPCs while using AWAR. - If you AWAR on Table Mountain, you will not stop in any town (or on any bridge). - Your adventure will end when you die, complete the dungeon, reach the deepest floor you've gotten to, whichever comes first. If the fallen Shiren is on a floor in that dungeon at present, then the adventure ends when you reach that floor. [Note from DRaines: It seems that in my experience, the last time you died in a dungeon sets the limit on how far you can go in that dungeon before your adventure ends. This needs to be checked. I died (on purpose) on level 3 of the Final Puzzle, though I have previously gone deeper. While waiting for a rescue in the Tainted Path, I was able to make short, 2 level runs into Final Puzzle.] - The Adventure Log will not be updating while using AWAR. - Unless you die, you keep all the items when the adventure ends, with a few exceptions: -- Any Traps in your inventory become Broken Traps. -- If you AWAR in the Scroll Cave or Kitchen God dungeons, you all Trap Armbands and Bufu's Cleavers (respectively) vanish. [NOTE from EchoNull: I was dead in the Ceremonial Cave and adventured in Kitchen God to try to get a Cleaver, completed the dungeon, and still lost it. Hypothesis: You have to be dead *INSIDE* KG in order to AWAR Cleavers out of it. Same deal for Scroll Cave, prolly.][Galax1994: This works. I just tried it, and I got a Bufu's Cleaver without having to beat the dungeon. I died on F2, and I got out easily WITH the Cleaver. Mind you, if you try this on a rescue, your cleaver still vanishes...][Galax1994: And yes, it works in Scroll Cave too.]
