Title and Release

Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon (Japanese: トルネコの大冒険 不思議のダンジョン) is a spin-off game of Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen developed by Chunsoft and published by Enix for the Super Famicom on September 19, 1993 in Japan only. It is the first game of Torneko's Mystery Dungeon games as well as the first Mystery Dungeon series game to be released.

The game features Torneko, a merchant first encountered in Dragon Quest IV's third chapter, in a story set after the end of the aforementioned game where he wishes to make his store famous by venturing through mystery dungeons so he could retrieve valuable items to stock in his store.

A manga and multiple strategy books were produced for Torneko's Great Adventure.
