JR-EAST App GET! Yamanote Line Pokémon Digital Rally (Japanese: JR東日本アプリでGET！山手線ポケモンデジタルラリー) was a promotional campain for Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon resulting from a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and the East Japan Railway Company (or JR-EAST for short). Users of the JR-EAST app (Japanese: JR東日本アプリ) for Android and iOS were able to access a menu where they could unlock digital Pokémon icons (called "badges") while riding a Yamanote Line train in Tokyo. It ran from August 1, 2015 9:30 AM JST to August 20, 2015, 4:30 PM JST.

Details

While riding a train, users of the smartphone application could unlock one of twenty digital badges depending on the train ride they chose by opening the menu and selecting the button to get the badge. Each badge was themed after one of the Pokémon that can be chosen as the player character and partner at the start of Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. Selecting the badge would show a description and an artwork of that Pokémon. The Yamanote Line Train Net (Japanese: 山手線トレインネット) function of the app provided hints on how to obtain the badges by showing the rides that were running at any given moment for which the badges had yet to be obtained. The obtained badge depended on the ride, and the received badge couldn't be known prior to getting on the train. Getting all 20 badges would unlock a smartphone wallpaper version of the cover art of the game.
