Introduction to Basic Gameplay (Pokémon)

Belly:

A Pokemon's belly has an original range of 0-100. When a Pokemon first enters a dungeon, they have a belly value of 100. As they progress throughout the dungeon, a Pokemon's belly value decreases. Once the belly value becomes 0, the Pokemon will start to lose 1 HP for every step taken. Once the HP reaches 0, the Pokemon will faint.

A Pokemon's belly value can be found in the menu. In order to regain belly values, a Pokemon can eat a food item such as an Apple, Gummi, Berry, or Seed. A Pokemon's belly value will also decrease if the player hold's the A and B buttons simultaneously (waiting mechanic). Also, a Pokemon's belly value will decrease faster if they are holding an item such as a Munch Belt. If a Pokemon eats an Apple with a belly value of 100, the maximum belly amount will increase by 5. Other items such as a Huge Apple will increase the maximum belly amount by 10 if eaten at maximum belly value.

Although the Belly feature is found in every Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game, it is only a feature in the last 3 three dungeons in Pokemon: Gates to Infinity.
