Gates:Removed and Unused Content

A huge amount of removed and unused content can be found in the files of Gates to Infinity. The purpose of this page is to document removed, scrapped, unused, inaccessible, dummied out content and features.

Alongside the other Jobs, five unused job titles and descriptions appear in message/rnd_rescue.bin, as well as their translations in their respective folders.

Sky Map When the sun, moon, and stars overlap, an arrow gets stuck deep in the ground.	てんくうのちず たいよう・つき・ほしが　あわさりしとき てんくうより　やが　ちじょうに　つきささろう	Carte du ciel Quand le soleil, la lune et les étoiles se rencontrent, une flèche descend des cieux.
Ancient Map To protect the treasure, it will be scattered onto all kinds of metals.	こだいのちず たからを　まもるため　あらゆる　きんぞくに ちりばめる。ねがわくば　こころきよきものに……	Carte antique Pour mieux protéger le trésor, elle a été répartie sur différents métaux.
Rainbow Map Seven lights overlap into one. The phantom treasures sleep there.	にじいろのちず ななつの　ひかりが　ひとつに　かさなる まぼろしのひほうが　そこにある	Carte arc-en-ciel Les sept couleurs ne font plus qu'une. C'est là que vous trouverez le trésor.

Mapa astral Cuando el sol, la luna y las estrellas se superponen, una flecha se clava en la tierra.	Himmelskarte Wenn Sonne, Mond und Sterne in einer Linie stehen, schießt ein Pfeil vom Himmel herab.	Mappa celeste Quando il sole, la luna e le stelle si incontrano, una freccia cade giù dal cielo.

This might be related to the Treasure Shop mentioned above.

Miscellaneous

At the start of the Japanese version, the player can choose wether the partner is male or female. This choice was removed in the American and European versions, making the female Pikachu model unused in those versions.

wallpaper_sub01.img is a picture with several vertical bars of various colors with the word "DEBUG" on top.

There are two pictures for each possible partner: bg/im01_01a_pika.img, bg/im01_01a_pika_a.img, bg/im01_01b_tsuta.img, bg/im01_01b_tsuta_a.img, bg/im01_01c_poka.img, bg/im01_01c_poka_a.img, bg/im01_01d_miju.img, bg/im01_01d_miju_a.img, bg/im01_01e_kiba.img and bg/im01_01e_kiba_a.img. All of them look the same: four vertical bars of various colors.

Text for an unused text speed option can be found in message/common.bin:

Judging by where the lines are placed in the file, it seems safe to assume the option was going to be at the top of the options menu, above the option to change the type of windows being used.
