Blue Magnagates
Blue Magnagates connect the human world to the Pokémon world. One can be seen at the start of the story, appearing right below the player character, leading him to fall from the sky. Humans become Pokémon prior to entering a Magnagate.
Red Magnagates
Red Magnagates connect two points in the Pokémon world. Dungeon researchers like Umbreon, Espeon and Keldeo create them by placing Entercards on a board to manipulate ley lines.
Discover a Magnagate
Selecting "Discover a Magnagate" from the main menu the player can use the Nintendo 3DS system camera to look for round objects. Once the hardware detects it and the player presses A, a Blue Magnagate appears, a Pokémon is chosen automatically for the player and a dungeon starts. The dungeon can be revisited at any time from the menu.
Trivia
The loading icons used by the game are shaped like Magnagates. The icons also come in colors other than red and blue.
Unused text suggests the Discover a Magnagate feature was also going to involve the use of AR Markers.
