The Herb of Sight (Japanese: めぐすり草) is a herb introduced in the Super Famicom release of Shiren 1. Consuming it will reveal all Traps and invisible Monsters for the remainder of the floor or until you transform. It will also cure you of blindness. The utility of this herb means you will often want to keep at least one on hand, usually to assist you in dealing with a monster house.

When thrown at a monster or NPC, instead of the usual two damage, this herb will actually work on them. Presumably, this will allow your NPC allies to fight air devils that they normally could not see. We also suspect that this will allow monsters to see you normally if you were invisible.

Tips for use

  • Herbs of Sight are most useful in Monster Houses, where the ground is littered with traps. Having one available can make handling one safer.
  • Eating a Herb of Sight will reveal all invisible monsters, such as those of the Air Devil family.
  • You can eat this herb to immediately cure the blindness state.
  • The NPC, Blinded Girl needs you to throw this herb at her in order to be able to see again. Keeping an Herb of Sight with you for the first few floors of Table Mountain can reward you with an extra point of Strength for doing so.
