The Herb of Life (Japanese: 命の草) is a herb introduced in the Super Famicom release of Shiren 1. Consuming it grants Shiren +3 maximum HP. Please note that Shiren's current HP will not be increased from eating an Herb of Life. It can also be thrown at a Monster or NPC but it will have no effect on them with one exception. Monster's of the Ghost attribute will take 50 damage when hit with a thrown Herb of Life, giving it some weapon usage, though the additional hit points are often vastly more desirable to the player.
