The Happiness Herb (Japanese: しあわせ草) is a herb introduced to the Super Famicom release of Shiren 1. Consuming it will make Shiren's level increase by 1. Likewise, it can be thrown at a monster to instantly level it up by 1. When thrown at any NPC, this herb does not deal any damage to them, but it does not level them up either.
Tips for use
- Throwing an Happiness Herb and hitting a monster with it will increase that monster's level by +1.
- If you find this herb and have it identified, it can be a good idea to hold onto it until right after you reach your next level. This way you do not "waste" the currently accrued experience for your current level.
- This herb is given to you as an event reward. On rare occasions, if you're about to eat your last Riceball within the first 16 floors of Table Mountain, a Starving Old Man will show up asking for it. If you accept, he'll reward you with a Happiness Herb. If you refuse, he'll die and return the next floor as an undead, floating ghost named Riceball resentment. A bunch of Polygon Spin family monsters will be on the floor. He laughs if you attack him in any way.
