The Bitter Herb (Japanese: くねくね草) is a herb introduced in the Super Famicom release of Shiren 1. Consuming it will make Shiren's level decrease by 1. Likewise, you can throw this item at a monster to decrease their level by 1. You can block the effect of this item by consuming it with an Antidrain Armband equipped. These items are one of a number of items that make ID'ing unidentified items in the Final Puzzle and the Ceremonial Cave more difficult and/or risky.
Tips for use
- Bitter herbs make for decent one time use weapons against monsters by greatly lessening the threat value of one.
- A good use for this herb is to throw it at a Rice Boss to return it to being a Rice Changer if you find yourself in need of safely farming Riceballs.
- You can use this herb as a food source if you have an Antidrain Armband equipped.
