Monjar (Japanese: ももんじゃ, Momonja) is a Monster in Template:GameTitle. Monjar are a sort of chimera, sharing attributes of a platypus, with their beak and limbs, and of a monkey, with their tail and fur. They also sport a distinctive mohawk.

Monster Ability

Monjar have no Special Abilities and can only deal regular damage to Torneko. Like all monsters with no special abilities, they have a 50% chance to spawn asleep and a 50% chance to wake up whenever Torneko enters the room, leaves the room or stands next to them. They have the standard item drop rates of 1.56% shared by most monsters.

Combat Strategy

Monjar stand out among early monsters for their high Defense Power combined with their high HP making them overall bulkier. Even with their average Attack Power this gives them more opportunity to hit Torneko for higher Damage. Because of this, a low Level Torneko with weak or no equipment can take quite a beating in a fight. However, Items shouldn't be necessary to deal with them as long as the player follows basic combat strategy :

  • Avoid fighting other monsters along with the Monjar, fighting multiple monsters at once is in general a bad idea. To avoid getting into this kind of situation, if you enter a room with a Monjar and other awakened monsters, retreat to the tile right outside the room so you can take them down one by one.
  • Make sure to get the first hit on the Monjar by forcing it to move to you during his turn.
  • If Torneko is at low HP, he can flee from the Monjar to regenerate health since this monster doesn't have Double Speed. This strategy shouldn't be abused with limited visibility, at the risk of being trapped in a hallway by another monster in front of Torneko and the Monjar behind.
  • After a fight, pass turns to regenerate health in a safe location so that Torneko starts the next fight healthy.
