States or status conditions can inflict Torneko, monsters and characters via monsters, traps and items. They inflict and provide various positive and negative effects on Torneko and can make a world of difference when it comes to survival.
List of States
The following list happens on both Torneko and the targeted monsters.

Negative | Blindness | The screen goes black. You have a higher chance to miss attacks. | Enemies walk in random directions and have a higher chance to miss attacks. | |
Confusion | No matter what direction you move, you will move in a random direction. When attacking, you will attack in a random direction, meaning you can attack in a different direction than you're facing. | Moves in random directions. | ||
Fear | You are unable to attack. | Enemy runs away from you. | ||
Sleep | Character becomes unable to act. | Enemy becomes unable to act. |
