After reaching 25 F of Pitfall Valley, the player sees Latios, the thief, looking at the sun. The player fights him and wins. After winning, he collapses and is sent back to the Pokémon Square. Everyone is cross about Latios stealing the TMs, but Latios explained why he stole them. He said he was not strong enough to save Latias, but if he took the TMs, he might have enough power. As a result, he had stolen the TMs in an attempt to learn moves in order to go and save his sister. Heart-warmed by this act of kindness, the purple Kecleon changes demeanor.

Upon reaching the end of Pitfall Valley, Latias is saved by the player’s [[Rescue Team/Teleport Gem|Teleport Gem]]. They return to the [[Rescue Team/Pokémon Square|Pokémon Square]], and Latias and Latios are reunited. To show their thanks, they ask to join the player’s team. This is the only way to recruit a Latios.
The player and partner then decide to help Latios, but don't know how to get to Pitfall Valley. Alakazam, who is with them, tells them that the {{RescueTeam|Teleport Gem}} that they possess can still carry them to Pitfall Valley despite the damage it has sustained from the events of the late main game.

Confront Latios is a Post-credits quest in Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team.

Requirements

The first event is triggered when the player buys the Friend Area Southern Island and has acquired Surf HM from Solar Cave.

Story

After completing the above requirements, the player will be called by their partner to head to Pokémon Square, where a small crowd has gathered. Kecleon (Little Brother) is upset that a mysterious culprit had taken away his TMs. The player then gains access to Northern Range after the conversation has ended.

At the end of the dungeon Northern Range, the player will come across Latios who is the culprit behind the TM thieving. Latios will then engage in battle with the player, and upon defeat, he faints. When Latios wakes up, he is in Pokémon Square and the purple Kecleon angrily asks what he wanted to do with the TMs. Latios then explains that he and his sister, Latias, were flying when a meteorite from the meteor destroyed by Rayquaza had hit Latias on the wing, causing her to fall into Pitfall Valley. As a result, he had stolen the TMs in an attempt to learn moves in order to go and save his sister. Heart-warmed by this act of kindness, the purple Kecleon changes demeanor.

The player and partner then decide to help Latios, but don't know how to get to Pitfall Valley. Alakazam, who is with them, tells them that the Teleport Gem that they possess can still carry them to Pitfall Valley despite the damage it has sustained from the events of the late main game.
