Shiren 1 DS:Armband of Regret

Template:Infobox Armbands (Shiren 1) The Armband of Regret (Japanese: 痛恨の腕輪) is an Armband introduced in the Super Famicom version of Shiren 1.

Equipping this will cause Shiren to occasionally take Critical Hits from physical and most other attacks.

In a critical hit, the monsters regular attack damage is approximately doubled. This will occur ~48-50% of the time that monster attacks do not miss (~80% without a Evasive Shield) therefore generally ~40% of the time that a monster attempts to attack Shiren.

The effect of this armband also persists in towns, but not while Shiren is a monster, or inflicted with the 'Riceball' status.

Limitations

Some attacks, such as fixed damage from Dragon-type Monster fire, or 5 damage from being thrown or rammed cannot become critical hits, as only attacks that derive their damage from the monsters attack statistic can have the damage value doubled.

Tips for use

• The 'Took a critical hit!' message scrolls out of sight obscenely quickly, so that most players would not notice they had taken unnecessary damage from equipping this armband.
• This armband makes equipping all Unidentified armbands in the Final Puzzle considerably more risky. As soon as a monster deals an amount of damage strangely high, check the message log for the critical hit message.
• It can be difficult to identity this armband while fighting Taur Family Monsters, as it is impossible to differentiate between the armbands effect, or a natural critical hit dealt by this type of monster.
• As they have no beneficial uses, Armbands of Regret can be sold at a Shop for a decent price of 3,000 Gitan.

Caution

If a monster attacks Shiren multiple times in one turn, all attacks can potentially be critical hits.

• Each strike that a Knifegator Family Monster makes each turn.
• Physical attacks from Double speed and double attacking monsters.
