The Super Famicom (Japanese: スーパーファミコン) is a home video game console released by Nintendo in Japan on November 21, 1990. The console would be rebranded as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, commonly shortened to Super Nintendo, Super NES, or SNES and would be released in North America on August 23, 1991, in Europe in 1992, and in South America in 1993. The console would also see a release in South Korea rebranded as the Super Comboy.
