Monsters will now be affected by traps which, in turn, triggers an EXP multiplier. This multiplier increases by 1x if the monster trips another trap during it's next turn. This is called "chaining." General Information
Monsters, traps and items can inflict various status conditions on Shiren. They inflict and provide various positive and negative effects on Shiren and can make a world of difference when it comes to survival.
Many of these conditions can be cured by consuming Monster Meat and will stay removed after reverting back to Shiren if not re-applied.
Reference Table
State | Description |
---|---|
Asleep | Prevents movement, attacks and the use of Items for a number of turns. |
Auto Identify | |
Blind | When blinded, the screen turns black, forcing the player to navigate via the portion of the mini-map already uncovered or to use an item to cure the blindness, such as an Herb of Sight or an Antidote Herb. |
Clear-Sighted | Allows you to see Traps on the floor, secret pathways and invisible Monsters. Gained by eating an Herb of Sight. |
Confused | When confused, yellow stars appear above your head. If you attempt to move or attack while Confused, you will have no control over the direction it occurs in. However, items such as Staves and Arrows will still shoot in the direction you are facing, so it is possible to continue combat using these items while confused by holding (Y) to face the direction of the enemies. Confusion can be avoided by wearing an Armband of Calm. |
Double Speed | Shiren will be able to move or attack twice per turn e.g. for every movement or attack that a Mamel makes, Shiren will be able to perform two. |
Enhanced | Attack power is increased. Shiren will retain the effect until ascending to the next floor. Can be applied to magnify the boosted power a maximum of 8 times. Gained by reading a Power Up Scroll. |
Full Hands | You cannot pick up any items from floor. |
Hasted | |
Hit Point Drain | You will lose 1 HP per turn while effected. Can last for 10-40 turns . |
Hypnotized | Forces random actions, including throwing items (equipped or not equipped), unequipping weapons/armor, attacking in random directions, eating herbs, inserting items into jars, reading scrolls, and swinging staves. |
Immobilized | You will be unable to move from the spot but will still be able to attack, and use items. |
Invincible | You will not lose HP to attacks for 20 turns. |
Invisible | Monsters will not attack or follow you. |
No Natural Recovery | Shiren will not naturally recover HP by walking around while effected. Can last for 10-40 turns. |
Kigny | You lose control over Shiren as he wanders the floor, attacking any monster or NPC he sees. |
Paralyzed | Will not be able to do anything for a number of turns or until being hit by a monster. |
Poisoned | You lose 5 HP and 1 strength point if inflicted by a Poison Dart Trap. If inflicted by a successfully thrown Poison Herb, the same effects will apply, but Shiren will be Slowed for 5[Citation needed] turns. |
Postponed | You warp above the stairs and become paralyzed until the effect wears off or are attacked. |
Puzzled | Monsters and NPCs appear as Girl. The stairs, visible traps, and items lying on the floor appear as flowers. You will be unable to talk to NPCs while puzzled, so treat any unknown Girl as a monster if encountered. This inability to speak to NPCs does not prevent the use of items like the Silenced status. |
Riceball | Prevents the use of items. You lose the bonuses from your equipments so your attack and defense will drop drastically. You can be also instant killed if you step on a Rotten Trap in this form. |
Sealed | Prevent the use of items and any special abilities. |
Silenced | Prevents eating Riceballs, Herbs and Monster Meat, reading Scrolls, or speaking to anyone. |
Slowed | Monsters take 2 turns per 1 turn you take. |
Starving | Prevents natural healing and you will lose 1 HP each turn. |
Strange Spell | Prevents natural healing at the first level spell, and loss of 1HP per step on the second level spell. |
Trap Master | Will allow Shiren to see, pick up, throw, and place traps. Monsters will now be affected by traps which, in turn, triggers an EXP multiplier. This multiplier increases by 1x if the monster trips another trap during it's next turn. This is called "chaining." When Shiren kills a monster with a multiplier, it will be applied to the EXP received. However, monsters directly killed by Shiren with no multiplier only give you 1 experience point each. See Trap Strategy for more info. Can be applied by equipping a Trap Armband or transforming into a Mechroid Family Monster. |
