Classes (Japanese: 職業) are a characteristic that applies to playable characters in Etrian Mystery Dungeon, determining various gameplay aspects. There is a total of 10 classes in the game

Each class has different Skills, stat growth, and equipment options. Whenever a character levels up, they gain a Skill Point that they can allocate on their class-specific skill tree, allowing a large variety of play styles. The player can freely create and customize the names, classes, and appearances of each party member they create. Characters of the various classes are sometimes found wandering dungeons and can be recruited. Up to 4 characters can be brought along in the player's party, while up to 50 total can be recruited when the Explorers Guild is fully upgraded, with the extra characters being able to be deployed at Forts to fight DOEs.
