トルネコの大冒険 不思議のダンジョン (English: Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon) is a spin-off game of Dragon Quest Ⅳ: Chapters of the Chosen developed and published by Chunsoft on Super Famicom in 1993. It is the first set of the Torneko's Mystery Dungeon series as well as the very first Mystery Dungeon game to be released, succeeding with the creation of the series.

Description

The game features Torneko, a merchant first encountered in Dragon Quest Ⅳ's third chapter, in a story set after the end of the aforementioned game where he wishes to make his store famous by venturing through mystery dungeons so he could retrieve valuable items to stock in his store.

Reception

While the game was not as popular as the main series, it was well received with over 800,000 copies sold in total, in Japan.[1] In 2006, the game was ranked 78th by the readers of the Famitsū magazine in its top 100 games of all time behind many other Mystery Dungeon and Dragon Quest games.[2]

The game received a good rating overall. In November 1993, Famitsū magazine's Reader Cross Review gave the game a 9/10.

A manga and a strategy book were produced for Torneko's Great Adventure.
