トルネコの大冒険 不思議のダンジョン (English: Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon) is a spin-off game of Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen developed by Chunsoft and published by Enix for the Super Famicom on September 19, 1993. It is the first set of Torneko's Mystery Dungeon games as well as the very first Mystery Dungeon game to be released, succeeding with the creation of the series.
Description
The game features Torneko, a merchant first encountered in Dragon Quest IV's third chapter, in a story set after the end of the aforementioned game where he wishes to make his store famous by venturing through mystery dungeons so he could retrieve valuable items to stock in his store.
Reception
While the game was not as popular as the main series, it was well received with over 800,000 copies sold in total, in Japan.[1] In 2006, the game was ranked 78th by the readers of the Famitsū magazine in its top 100 games of all time behind many other Mystery Dungeon and Dragon Quest games.[2]
The game received a good rating overall. In November 1993, Famitsū magazine's Reader Cross Review gave the game a 9/10.
A manga and a strategy book were produced for Torneko's Great Adventure.
