This mode existed back in Shiren 1, and may exist in all Shiren games.  For better or worse, monster meat and the related monster meat mode in Shiren 1 does not exist in Shiren 5.
This mode was introduced in the [[Shiren 1/Version Differences|SFC version]] of [[Shiren 1]], and exists in other Shiren titles.

Don't mix up the Trapper Bracelet with the Trap Bracelet! The former controls this mode, the latter causes more traps to appear over time on the dungeon floor. (It's hard to use a Trap Bracelet by itself to good effect, but using both Trapper and Trap together could allow you to keep creating more and more traps that you could see and use to your benefit.)

Summary

Ordinarily, traps are invisible, they can't be moved, they are triggered by "pressure activation", and they have a high chance to trigger any time Shiren walks on them. In short, they behave much as you'd expect traps in an RPG to behave. However, when "Trapper Bracelet Mode" is in effect, traps behave very differently:

  • Traps are now fully visible, can be picked up, moved, thrown, and otherwise manipulated in inventory.
  • Shiren no longer triggers traps by walking on them (but can still trigger them manually by standing on them and using the Feet menu).
  • Monsters now trigger traps instead.

In short, Trapper Bracelet Mode plays radically differently than normal Shiren gameplay.

This mode was introduced in the SFC version of Shiren 1, and exists in other Shiren titles.

Entering and Leaving Trapper Bracelet Mode

Trapper Bracelet Mode is in effect whenever Shiren has a non-sealed Trapper Bracelet equipped, or any non-sealed new item bracelet with the Trapper rune crafted onto it. Thus, in most dungeons that let you take items in, you can switch between Trapper Bracelet Mode and normal mode at will by equipping and un-equipping a bracelet with this magic effect on it.

Trapper Bracelet Mode is also always in effect in both Gen's Turf and Trapper's Sandbox.

Trapper Bracelets are rare, but you can get them from the above two dungeons and possibly other locations as well.
