Summary

The name "Trapper Bracelet Mode" is a fan creation. [TODO: go through in-game documentation and in-game info about Gen's Turf and Trapper's Sandbox again to see if there is a more official name for this.]

Ordinarily, traps are invisible, they can't be moved, they are triggered by "pressure activation", and they have a high chance to trigger any time Shiren walks on them. In short, they behave much as you'd expect traps in an RPG to behave.

However, when "Trapper Bracelet Mode" is in effect, things are radically different:

  • Traps are now fully visible
  • Traps can be picked up, moved, thrown, and otherwise manipulated in inventory
  • Shiren no longer triggers traps by walking on them (but can still trigger them manually by standing on them and using the Feet menu)
  • Monsters now trigger traps instead

In short, Trapper Bracelet Mode plays radically differently than normal mode.

This mode existed back in Shiren 1, and may exist in all Shiren games. For better or worse, monster meat and the related monster meat mode in Shiren 1 does not exist in Shiren 5.

Entering/Leaving Trapper Bracelet Mode

Trapper Bracelet Mode is in effect whenever Shiren has a non-sealed Trapper Bracelet equipped, or any non-sealed new item bracelet with the Trapper effect crafted onto it. Thus, in most dungeons that let you take items in, you can switch between Trapper Bracelet Mode and normal mode at will by equipping and unequipping a bracelet with this magic effect on it.

Trapper Bracelet Mode is also always in effect in both Gen's Turf and Trapper's Sandbox.

Trapper Bracelets are rare, but you can get them from the above two dungeons and possibly other locations as well.
