Template:Drafts When Trapper Bracelet Mode is in effect, Template:Shiren5 behave very differently. Ordinarily, traps are invisible, they can't be moved, they are triggered by "pressure activation", and they have a high chance to trigger any time Template:Shiren5 walks on them. In short, they behave much as you'd expect traps in an RPG to behave. However, :

  • Traps are now fully visible, can be picked up, moved, thrown, and otherwise manipulated in inventory.
  • Shiren no longer triggers traps by walking on them (but can still trigger them manually by standing on them and using the Feet menu).
  • Monsters now trigger traps instead.

In short, Trapper Bracelet Mode plays radically differently than normal Shiren gameplay.

This mode was introduced in the SFC version of Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer, and exists in other Shiren titles.

Entering and Leaving Trapper Bracelet Mode

Trapper Bracelet Mode is in effect whenever Shiren has a Template:Shiren5 Template:Shiren5 equipped, or any non-sealed Template:Shiren5 bracelet with the Trapper Template:Shiren5 crafted onto it. Thus, in most dungeons that let you take items in, you can switch between Trapper Bracelet Mode and normal mode at will by equipping and un-equipping a bracelet with this magic effect on it.

Trapper Bracelet Mode is also always in effect in both Template:Shiren5 and Template:Shiren5.

Trapper Bracelets are rare, but you can get them from the above two dungeons and possibly other locations as well.

Don't mix up the Trapper Bracelet with the Template:Shiren5! The former controls this mode, the latter causes more traps to appear over time on the dungeon floor. (It's hard to use a Trap Bracelet by itself to good effect, but using both Trapper and Trap together could allow you to keep creating more and more traps that you could see and use to your benefit.)

Notes & Research.

  • The name "Trapper Bracelet Mode" is a fan creation. Somebody should go through in-game documentation and in-game info about Gen's Turf and Trapper's Sandbox again to see if there is a more official name for this.
  • Traps can be picked up, moved, thrown, and otherwise manipulated in inventory. (but doing so seems to reduce the trap's longevity -- needs more testing)
