Classes are part of the Etrian Odyssey series since the first game. In Etrian Mystery Dungeon, there are a total of 10 classes, with one of them being a brand new class titled "Wanderer Class".

There are a total of 10 classes, in Etrian Mystery Dungeon, each of which has different skills, stat growth, and equipment options. Whenever a character levels up, they gain a Skill Point that they can allocate on their class-specific skill tree, allowing a large variety of play-styles. The player can freely create and customize the names, classes, and appearances of each party member they create, and NPCs of the various classes are sometimes found wandering dungeons, who can be recruited. Up to 4 characters can be brought along in the player's party, while up to 50 total can be recruited when the Explorer's Guild is fully upgraded, with the extra characters being able to be deployed at Forts to fight DOEs.
