Arrows (Japanese: 矢) are projectile items that appears in Shiren the Wanderer 5 and 5 Plus. There are eleven variants of them in total.
Summary
Arrows are stackable projectiles, up to 99 per stack. They can never be blessed, cursed, or sealed. All arrows do damage, while some arrows also inflict status ailments or have other effects. The damage they do appears to be a function of your strength, possibly your level, and the target's defense. (Unlike stones, which do fixed damage.) There is no concept of bows in Shiren 5: you can shoot arrows at any time. You can Set these in the menu so you can shoot them with a button.
An arrow behaves like any thrown item (except stones):
- An arrow goes 10 spaces in front or until it hits or misses something. There is a ??? chance of missing. If they miss, they drop at the feet of the target.
- Arrows always go forward even when you are confused, so they make an excellent fallback option when you can't reliably swing at your opponent.
- Arrows can be shot through diagonal gaps and around corners, allowing you to get a free hit in some situations.
Farming Arrows
You can throw rocks onto a Wood, Iron or Poison Arrow Trap to trigger it. Each trap can yield anywhere from 1-30 arrows, although Poison Arrow Trap tends to break earlier. You can lead a Karakuroid around to generate traps.
If you have a Dodger Pot, you can use it on a floor with Boy Carts, Cross Carts, or Strong Carts. Since these monsters never run out of arrows, you can get an almost unlimited amount of Wood / Iron / Knockback Arrows from them. This does not work on Pierce Carts, since Silver Arrows always vanish.

Shops | In-Game Description | Usage Tips | ||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
English | Japanese | Cost | Value | ||
Wood Arrow | 木の矢 | 10 | 3 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away. However, the attack power is pretty low. | Common arrows available from Arrow Traps and Boy Carts / Cross Carts. Very efficient in terms of inventory space if you can make a large stack of either. Iron Arrow makes a sword rune. |
Iron Arrow | 鉄の矢 | 30 | 10 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away. This upgraded arrow hits a bit harder. | |
Silver Arrow | 銀の矢 | 50 | 17 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away, and this arrow will go through terrain and creatures. However, the attack power is low. | Has infinite range, even through walls. Can hit multiple creatures and always vanish. Use these to clear out a monster house from faraway, in combination with Navigation Scroll or Monster Detector. Pierce Carts use Silver Arrows and sometimes drop them. |
Critical Arrow | 会心の矢 | 100 | 35 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away, and this arrow will go through terrain and creatures. It sometimes hits for critical damage. | |
Poison Arrow | 毒矢 | 200 | 70 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away, and this arrow will inflict Weakened status. | Use these to weaken monsters with high attack before you fight them. |
Knockback Arrow | 吹き飛ばしの矢 | 150 | 52 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away. Enemies that are hit may get knocked back. | Effectively a Knockback Staff that deals more damage but has a chance of missing. |
Truestrike Arrow | 必中の矢 | 100 | 35 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away. This unerring missile will always hit its target. | |
Killer Arrow | とどめの矢 | 200 | 70 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away. It's pretty inaccurate, but if it hits, it has a chance to kill your target in one shot. | These almost never hit. Can use them to trigger a trap a monster is standing on, and the trap will hit it (assuming the arrow misses). |
Drain Arrow | 生気の矢 | 150 | 52 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away, and you'll heal HP proportional to the damage dealt. | Can be used as healing, but best used in a non-urgent situation since each individual arrow does not heal for a lot. |
Random Arrow | ダーツの矢 | 150 | 52 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away. The amount of damage it does is random every time. | |
Suicide Arrow | 心中の矢 | 100 | 35 | This projectile will allow you to attack enemies from far away, and it'll cause you damage that is proportional to the damage you dealt. |
