Rescue Mechanics differ between games across the Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer series. The aim of this page is to document the various differences. Rescues were first introduced in the Mystery Dungeon Franchise in Magic Castle GBC:Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer GB2: Magic Castle of the Desert. From there, it has become a staple of the Mystery Dungeon Franchise. If Shiren is knocked out in a dungeon, there is usually an option to get rescued in order to continue their adventure where they left off.

Rescue Methods

Methods of rescue differ between games. Games that allow rescues will give the player a rescue code to give other players. Other methods include sending the request via. local wireless connection and in some cases, the internet. In Magic Castle GBC, the players were able to utilize passwords and the Game Boy Link Cable.

Restrictions

  • If the player attempts to steal from a shop or is accused of theft, rescues will be disabled.
  • In Template:Shiren5, the rescuer can only send a Revival Grass or an Undo Grass in order to save the player in some dungeons, such as the Tower of Fortune.

Revival

After a successful rescue by others, the player continues where they left off. When revived, all monsters on the floor will be despawned.

In The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate, a Revival Grass appears on the floor where the player was rescued. When the player is done making rescues, items and money are sent to the storage.[Research required]
