The Accelerating Staff (Japanese: 加速の杖) is a Staff introduced in the Super Famicom release of Shiren 1.
Opposite to the Staff of Sloth, when swung, it will fire a bolt that will permanently increase the speed of the target entity, Monster or NPC by one level. See Movement Speed and 'Double Speed' status.
There are 4 movement speed levels:
Slow → Normal → Double Speed:Single Attack → Double Speed:Double Attack
Entities that have had their speed increased to Double Speed:Double Attack, or were already at this level, cannot be sped up any further, and additional magic bolts will have no effect.
Tips for use
- Swing this staff at Shiren's Allies to increase their speed and combat potential for 11 Double Speed turns (5-6 normal).
- Swing this staff at an Air Devil Family Monster to increase Shiren's speed by the reflected bolt for 6 normal turns, (11 turns that Shiren can act at Double Speed)
- Identifying is made more risky by Accelerating Staves, only use Unidentified staves in safe situations, and not as a Last Resort.
- Because the speed of the target was increased artificially, 'Sealing' them will not return their speed to 'Normal'.
