Magic Castle DS:Infinite Item Strengthening

General information

This is a post-game guide as most of the items you will need have to be obtained early to mid post-game.

What you need

• A Doppelganger Staff or a Staff of Happiness with at least 3 charges
  • You will need these staves to level up the monster mentioned below.

• One Sanctuary Scroll
  • As you will have a tough monster trying to attack you, having this scroll is essential to do this.

• One Absorb Jar
  • Use this jar to capture the monster's special abilities and seal it; even if the monster is sealed, you can still absorb its abilities with this jar.

Infinite Item Strengthening

Level 4 Pitcher Plant

After obtaining all the required items, go to floors 6 - 8 of the Ancient Ruins and find a Pitcher Plant. Drop a Sanctuary Scroll on the entrance to the current room so it can't attack you. Use the Doppelganger Staff on other monsters or the Staff of Happiness on the Pitcher Plant itself until it levels up to level 4. Use your Absorb Jar on the Strengthening Pitcher Plant until it's full. Pressing the Absorb Jar will allow you to transform into a Strengthening Pitcher Plant for a single turn and "eat" your equipment, powering it up. Always use the Absorb Jar's last charge on itself by standing on it as a Strengthening Pitcher Plant, so the jar's capacity increases again.

Using this method, as long as you have the Absorb Jar and don't die and lose your items, you will be able to infinitely re-use these items to strengthen equipment. Normally this wouldn't be a great method to level up items, but due to the commonality of Sanctuary Scrolls in this game and the ability of the monster to turn any scroll into a Blank Scroll, this method becomes very viable.

Additional Method

If you bring an ally like Pekeji into the warehouse and surround him with Sanctuary Scrolls, you can throw the monster meat at them to have a safely contained monster. Using the above method to always use the final Absorb Jar charge on itself, you can continually re-absorb the monsters ability and have an infinite strengthening setup from the safety of your warehouse.

1. Recruit Pekeji and bring him to the warehouse.
2. Surround him with Sanctuary Scrolls.
3. Throw the Strengthening Pitcher Plant meat at him when he's standing in the center.
4. Use the Absorb Jar as many times as you can on the monster.
5. Place items on the ground you want to strengthen until you're down to one charge.
6. Place the Absorb Jar on the ground and use the final charge on itself to bring it back up to 5 charges.
7. Absorb the monster's ability 5 more times.
8. Continually strengthen your equipment using this method.

Items that can be strengthened

Using any of the two methods listed above, it is possible to strengthen these types of items:

• Weapons, their upgrade bonus will increase by 5.
• Shields, their upgrade bonus will increase by 5.
• Armbands, if they are damaged, using this method will fix them.^{[Citation needed]}
• Arrows, their amount will increase by 5, max is 99.
• Scrolls, they will be turned into a Blank Scroll; this doesn't apply for Sanctuary Scrolls stuck on the ground.
• Staves, their charges will increase by 5, max is 99.
• Jars, their capacity will increase to 5.
• Riceballs, they will be turned into a better type of riceball.^{[Citation needed]}
