Article description: (description )This attribute controls the content of the description and og:description elements. | JERO (Japanese: ジェロ), also known by his full name Jerome Charles White Jr., is an enka singer of African and Japanese descent from the United States.[1] Enka was a genre of music that flourished in 1940s Japan, with "simple song themes about love and loss". JERO's (Japanese) grandmother introduced him to the songs as a child, to connect him with their culture. After studying Japanese in High School, and visiting Japan as an exchange student in college, he got his break after moving to Japan and appearing on an amateur singer TV show.[2] |
