Draft:Asuka the Swordswoman DC:Shield

Your shield is one of the most vital items in the game, side by side with your weapon. While it's possible to get a ways with fists alone, going into a dungeon without a decent shield will be a death sentence. There are plenty of other items that will help you through dungeons but you will need to craft a few different shields to beat this game.

All shields have a basic defense value (Def), a current protection bonus(+X) as well a maximum possible bonus (Max). Reading a Soil Bless Scroll, will increase the current bonus (up to Max), while Rust Traps and some Monsters can reduce it (down to -Def). Rarely a scroll will add +3 Def to your weapon. Some shields have intrinsic special abilities (seals), from turning experience into Gitan, halving explosion damage, hunger or preventing your shield's strength from being rusted.

Pickpocket Shield	ガマラの盾					Asuka gains exp. when she takes damage.
Hide Shield	皮の盾					Leather means it won't rust and it also makes you less hungry. Combining this with other shields won't give them rust resistance.
Tempered Wooden Shield	鍛えた木の盾
Gold Shield	金の盾					Because it is made of gold, it is soft and weak, but it will never rust.
Ground Counter	グランドカウンター					It reflects the damage Asuka receives.
Rubber Shield	コムバンの盾					It prevents electric shocks.
Satori Shield	サトリの盾					Prevents the bearer's Fullness from depleting, but reduces the stomach cap to one.
Happy Shield	しあわせの盾					1/4 of taken damage will be added to your experience.
Beast King Shield	獣王の盾					A shield drapped in the hides and tusks of legendary beasts.
Armor Ward	重装の盾					Good defense but doubles hunger.
Half Warrior Shield	正面戦士の盾					Damage from the front is halved but damage from behind is doubled.
Blast Shield	地雷ナバリの盾					A shield designed to mitigate damage from blasts or mines.
Bronzeward	青銅甲の盾					A shield made of bronze.
Fragile Shield	使い捨ての盾					A shield that starts with high defensive power, but weakens over time.
Iron Shield	鉄甲の盾					A shield made of iron.
Walrus Shield	トドの盾					A shield that will prevent your items and money from being stolen.
Dragonward	ドラゴンシールド					Designed to mitigate damage from dragons.
Bowl Shield	どんぶりの盾					A shield that alleviates hunger with each direct attack. Perhaps someone used it to eat out of.
Spiked Ward	バトルカウンター					A shield that can counter certain attacks from monsters.
Wind Shield	風魔の盾					A very defensive shield made of special metal.
Bulky Shield	不動の盾					A shield that nullifies things that would knockback or warp the bearer, but its weight makes the bearer more hungry.
Shield of Spear	矛の盾					It's a shield and also a weapon.
Hoshi no Mikoshi no Tate	星神輿の盾
Missile Shield	身かわしの盾					A shield designed to deflect projectiles.
Evasive Shield	見切りの盾					A shield that makes it easier to dodge attacks.
Elegant Shield	みやびやかな盾
Echo Shield	やまびこの盾					Reflects magical attacks.
Hades' Shield	黄泉巫女神ノ盾					It has many skills.
Stormward	ラセン風魔の盾					A shield that has been strengthened by altering the way a Wind Shield was forged.

Notes

• Names in bold might not have official translations.
• This page is based off the Shiren 3 weapons page. It's currently unknown if Mixer monsters are in this game or what the melding limitations (if any) are in this game.
• The Festival Shield has the same effect as the shield of the same name from Shiren 3 but the Japanese name is spelled differently.
• The name for Hide Shield is spelled slightly different in this game.
• The Happy Shield is based on DS2. This shield might not have an official translation.
• The Echo Shield is based off DS2. This shield might not have an official translation.
