Special PCs

dumping special episode info; these appear to be based off of the set teams within these episodes.

Note: If fixed moves are off, additional moves are generated based on level (hence why you don't start with no moves on Bidoof). If there is no fixed HP value, HP is auto-generated based on level. Also, unknown recruit locations generally call different locations based on character; ??? recruit locations call the same location (0214).

Guest Pokémon & Dungeons

similar to the above; variations of story-required dungeon companions, as well as various checks that occur with them.

Guests

Note: For now, joined-at locations are just indicated by their call numbers (ex: 214, 223, 218, etc). I'll add actual locations later, if/when I find them. Also, these guests only appear while the dungeon is uncleared.

To-do List

just a list of things to do really, through the use of skytemple

  • Create stat Templates if they don't exist already
    • Once ST (potentially) adds support for T/D, create T/D stat tables
  • Dump portrait galleries
  • Dump sprites (idles, attacks, etc)
    • Attack, charge (? [n 7]), cringe, deep breath, eat, event sleeping (? [n 8]), faint, float, head, hit the ground, hop, hurt, idle, laying, leap forward, look up, lose balance, nod, pain, pose, pull, rotate, shake, shoot, sink, sit, sleeping, swing, trip, tumble (backward and forwards), wake, walk for starters/player and partner
    • Attack, charge, double, hop, hurt, idle, rotate, shoot, sleep, strike, swing, walk for others
    • Special animations for bosses, major characters (Wigglytuff, Grovyle, etc)
      • Noted as (SP)
    • Offsets and shadow animations will not be included, as that's just extra game data
  • Add weight and body size notes for Grass Knot/Sizebust Orb
    • In progress up to Machamp
  • Compile recruit rates, IQ groups, abilities
  • Finish exclusive items
  • Note unused portraits, items, etc
  • Add level-up moves, TMs, HMs, egg moves, 'mon categories
  • Dump dungeon sprites & tilesets
  • Screenshots in dungeons for dungeon pictures
  • Note weather, item spawns, traps, level spawns, etc, in dungeons
    • General dungeon data
  • Identify pre-set Kecleon levels (for Kecleon bosses)
  • Personality groups
  • Boss stats, levels, etc
  • Items & item data [n 9]
  • Guest Pokémon dungeon checks
    • In progress up to end of main story
  • Explorers disambiguation Templates. [n 10]

Notes

  1. Affects Grass Knot damage.
  2. Affects Sizebust Orb damage.
  3. Hidden Land Restrictions:
    * No Pokémon sent home
    * No changing leaders
    * If a team member faints, you will get kicked out of the dungeon.
  4. Only applies while dungeon is uncleared. Overrides any "recruiting enabled" restrictions.
  5. I'll be honest, I have no clue why the game checks this specific variable... but it does in a few cases, hence why this exists.
  6. See the HLR note above.
  7. I'm not sure what this actually means tbh? I think it's the immobilized/paralysis animation though since it isn't the cringe one
  8. Probably cutscene related.
  9. Noted as "Other Items;" see here.
  10. Will be testing this at some point... I think there's a benefit to it and some of the formatting could be applied elsewhere. Test here.

Technical Notes

  • All data for Pokémon (minus actors/special characters) is stored on the Male/Genderless data. Female/Invalid data exists as "backup" in cases like Nidorina, etc. and is listed at $0600+
    • The data appears to be duplicated between the two and seems to indicate that there are just different Pokémon called in dungeons for genders. For genderless Pokémon, Invalid exists as the Female backup.
  • Special characters have their own placements in Pokémon, after all of the regular, non-special 'mons. They tend to only have their set gender (i.e. Grovyle only has Male data) due to them only having one set "actor." There are, however, some alternatives on different, close numbers. Some of this seems to be due to sprite data.
    • The following are considered "special" characters in the game's data:
    • Primal Dialga (has two data calls, presumably one for the regular story and one for special episodes)
    • Decoy (same with above, probably for substitute vs decoy enemy)
    • Kangaskhan Statue (also has two, most likely for saving only vs items and saving)
    • Wigglytuff's shadow (?)
    • Regigigas statue
    • Bronzong statue
    • Hitmonlee statue
    • Guild members, including Chimecho, Wigglytuff, Sunflora, Diglett, Dugtrio, Corphish, Loudred, Bidoof, Chatot.
      • For some reason, Sunflora is listed as male, and not female... this is different from the Nidos, who have female or male data only, but it's most likely just for actor data
    • Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit
    • Grovyle (two exist depending on the situation; one has the ropes)
    • Dusknoir (there are actually three? probably similar case to Dialga)
    • Sableye (Dusknoir's)
    • Darkrai's shadow
    • Wigglytuff's mama
      • Not his dad, though... but that's just a male Wigglytuff, so they probably just dupe the data when calling for Special Episodes
    • Sentret (special episode)
    • Bellossom (special episode)
    • Ironically, this isn't every special character. There's no Armaldo or Jirachi buried this far...
  • With the release of ST 1.3, special episode player characters have been extracted. These include:
    • Celebi
    • Igglybuff
    • Medicham
    • Bidoof
    • Sunflora
    • Gardevoir
    • Dusknoir
    • Lopunny
    • Grovyle
    • Armaldo
    • The release also revealed recruit locations as well as pre-set moves and levels, and if the moves, HP, and IQ were fixed. Info placed here.
  • Also with ST 1.3 came information about Guest Pokémon. These appear to be different variations of story-required companions. This list includes:
    • Banette
    • Skorupi
    • Snover (x2)
    • Bidoof (like four of them?)
    • Grovyle (also four of them?)
    • Loudred
    • Dusknoir
    • Chatot
    • Celebi
    • Cresselia
    • Shaymin
    • Information on these has been placed in its own header as well, in a similar style to Special PCs. See here.
  • Sprite IDs differ slightly if there are gender differences.
  • There are a few movement types, most notably Normal, Hovering, Lava, and Water. This seems to affect what kinds of titles Pokémon can walk on
  • All recruitable, non-special Pokémon have set personalities that affect what lines they say during dungeons, in the overworld, etc. There seem to be 17 regular personalities up to the special ones, which are reserved for the player, partner, etc.
    • There are 3 partner personalities, which, while not affecting their cutscene dialogue, does affect their in-dungeon replies to talking to them. This is especially noticeable when comparing healthy, level up, low HP, and half HP dialogue.
  • For some reason, probably due to sprite data, there are literally 28 Unowns. I'm gonna suggest keeping them all on one page due to this being due to form differences (they are not gendered in any way).
  • There's a whole bunch of reserves and such in place, probably to be replaced with others like the player, partner, etc. They've all got negative sprite data and an impossible recruit rate. Have fun summoning those in dungeons, they'll all spawn as Dummy Pokémon with no moves or stats
  • Notes on dungeon data from ST:
    • ST divides dungeons into their locations and "groups" (if they have a pit or a rest stop, for example)
    • The main, non-floor dungeon information lists the name, amount of floors, direction of floors, the maximum amount of rescues, items, and party size, and turn limit. There are also several switches to determine things like traps revealed by attacks, levels being reset to 1, a forced game save, and more.
    • These dungeons also have information on their floors as well. This gives one a relatively large look on individual floor data.
    • Within each floor, you can see quite a bit of data, including, but not limited to the tileset used, the music used, whether or not the room is fixed, the structure type (varies quite a bit), floor connectivity, extra hallway density, room density, dead ends, and more.
    • Interestingly enough, you can also view secondary terrain, which seems to primarily be water, but could possibly be lava for the fire-based dungeons as well.
    • Floor ranks are present within the floor data. This is where information for mission data gets its ranking from, and also affects treasure box outcomes.
    • Some floors can also have their mission slots disabled by default.
    • If hidden stairs are discovered, there are only four possible outcomes:
      • 0 - Secret Bazaar guaranteed
      • 1 - Secret room guaranteed
      • 255 - 50% Secret Bazaar, 50% secret room
      • Any values other than 0, 1, or 255 just proceed to the next floor like normal stairs.
    • Floor data contains information on Pokémon spawns, trap spawns, and item spawns as well.
    • Pokémon spawns list the level, chance of encountering, and of all things, the Kecleon level, provided you encounter a Kecleon. They are also assigned a weight - this affect spawning pattern. Higher weight = higher spawn chance.
    • Trap spawns list all traps, their chances of occurring, and a similar weight value to Pokémon spawns.
    • Item spawns are a bit more complicated...
      • The Item tab is divided into categories based upon what conditions the items spawn in. The six options are Floor, Shop, Monster House, Buried, Grab Bag, and Secret Room. These are self-explanatory.
      • Under every category is a list of possible items divided based on their item category. Items with IDs smaller than 363 can be added (aka, roughly up to the Link Box), and larger items cannot. Probably to prevent things like exclusive items from just randomly spawning in dungeons.
      • If an item's category is not listed in the possible spawns, it simply will not appear in the dungeon. For example, Beach Cave Floor 1 only allows for Poké to spawn on the floor, and no other items have the chance to appear, so only Poké will be a possible floor item.
  • There's just under 1400 items in all of Sky's data, with somewhere between 60 and 70 unused items. At least these are all easy to locate; they all have names that are along the lines of [M:D1] and contain only $$$ in their text.
    • Among these unused items are an unused Eevee exclusive, a few stand-in TMs, and what appears to be gold and silver keys.
    • Some of these unused items have unique sprites as well, such as the keys mentioned above, a reddish scarf item, and a chestnut sprite from Rescue Team.
    • Data for these can be extracted through some easy navigation, so it's easy to slip into an unused items page.
    • There's a validity check. Some unused items with more detail may be discovered through that...
  • Messy WIP Floor rewards spreadsheet. Lots to keep piling on here.

Transfer

things to transfer to various pages eventually.

Various items' data to pages

  • All Bows
  • All Unown Stones
  • Floor rewards (list?)
  • Exclusive items
    • As a side note, I may want to consider doing the pages as evolution families...
  • Unused items

Dungeons

  • Take screenshots for all EOS dungeons
  • Take screenshots for all EOT/D dungeons
  • Input boss information for EOS dungeons
