Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team or Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team demos were made available for play Throughout 2006 and into 2007[citation needed] in various locations players could play demo versions at locations such as GameStop, Toys R Us and Walmart. The length of time the demos were playable likely varied by location, with some lasting throughout 2006 and others being removed midway through the year.[6] The Demos were locked into theft-proof handheld consoles that would prevent people removing them, which could have prevented the demos from ever being leaked or pictures of the labels ever surfacing.
On September 30, 2020, the Nintendo Gigaleak of 2020 have found many data for Pokémon spin-off games, including lost demos of Red and Blue Rescue Team and debug versions of both these games and Explorers of Time and Darkness.[7]

Gold Rescue Team[edit | edit source]
- For more information on Gold Rescue Team, see the full article.
포켓몬 불가사의 던전 황금 구조대 -너도 골드랭크에 도전하자!- (English: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gold Rescue Team -Challenge the Gold Rank!-) is a Korean demo of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team that was made available on August 11, 2007 from the Korean Pokémon website.[8]
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
The games boot up the same as the retail releases with the only major difference being the logo modified to include the word 'demo' or the various localization's of the word. Blue Rescue Team carts have a top menu that displays controls and there's only one menu option: New Game. When selecting new game the demo will warn the player they only have 10 minutes to play before playing the normal introduction of the game. The {{RescueTeam|Player Character|player]] doesn't get to choose their character or partner as they can in the retail release. Instead they play as a Pikachu with a Charmander for a partner. The player must travel through Tiny Woods to rescue Caterpie and re-unite him with his mother, Butterfree. The partner shows the player to a base that they can use as a home and they decide to form a Rescue Team together. Regardless of language, the team is named Pokémon and the base is referred to as Pokémon-Base, or the Pokémon- followed by the language variant of base. After getting news from the local mail-delivery Pelipper they set out to separate a couple Magnemite that have been stuck together and traverse through Thunderwave Cave. After rescuing the two Magnemite they thank the player and the demo ends.

Side notes[edit | edit source]
- If attempting to leave off to the right side where friend areas normally are, the partner tells the player that's not the direction to the dungeon.
- Various languages can be played by changing the NDS language and playing on a European cart.
- The Demo name and language is based off the Nintendo DS with European carts. If the Nintendo DS language is set to Japanese, it will go back to the default English name and, in the case of the North American cart, all languages will use the English name.
